Prayer for America 02/23/06

Have mercy on our nation, Father! We are far from perfect, but we have not forgotten you and how you have brought us along from our earliest days. Forgive us for the ways in which we have departed from the right and the good. Open our hearts to the facets of your own character that you also desire for us as a nation: truth, honesty, integrity, compassion, justice, self-sacrifice, love. To the degree that we have abandoned these national virtues, Father, pardon us, we pray. Help us return to them and find the true source of our strength: the right and the good, rooted in your love. Amen.
