Prayer for America 03/14/06

It's hard for me to believe, dear Lord, that there are still people in other places of the world who must worship you in secret. Their governments do not allow them to sing to you, pray to you, talk about you, express their love for you. Be with the believers in those countries, Lord. Give them comfort and peace and a freedom of spirit that no tyrant can destroy. And as I openly and without fear enter my place of worship this week, help me to pause to thank you for a country in which I can freely choose and practice my faith. Amen.

When the world around us grows cold and chaotic, faith is the balm that soothes a fearful heart and the blanket that comforts an anxious mind.
