Prayer for America 12/12/05

Heavenly Father, today I remember that Theodore Roosevelt said it is better to dare mighty things, even if we fail, than to live in the gray twilight that neither victory nor defeat.

Lord, please reveal to me my twilight places where fear of defeat keeps me from daring to do important things. I could write a letter to an elected representative knowing that he or she may never read it--yet it might be the letter that turns a vote. I could join, or even start, a neighborhood group that works to reduce crime. Lord, so many good things that I could do have "failure" written all over them. But so did founding a nation without a king.

God, please shine your light in my twilight places, and give me courage to risk failure. Amen.
