Prayer for America 12/22/05

Lord, there is a crystal chill in the wind that carries the promise of snow to freeze the lakes and dust the mountains. It whispers of swirls and fronds on ice-frosted windows, brittle stems of grass and bracken in winter wields, sluggish streams that crawl their way between the woodland pines.

It's time to rest, to step back and watch as the earth holds its breath. Time to dream and wonder while snowflakes drift lazily down to smooth the contours of the world.

Lord, in you we find warmth and shelter from the cold. Grant us rest to renew our bodies, peace to renew our dreams, and your blessing to smooth our path in the spring to come.
