Prayer for America 12/26/05

Dear god, if I truly look, I see your face. I see you in the smile of the disabled woman who carefully bags my groceries. I see you in the crossing guards at my neighborhood school. I see you in the people putting coins in a jar labeled "Feed the Hungry" beside a cash register. I see you in our nation's legislators as they begin their sessions with prayer. Lord, humans will always be found wanting, but let us all recognize that so many people across our land are truly trying to be cheerful, helpful, and responsive to your heavenly laws. Amen.
