Christmas Eve

Thank you, Mother God, for the promise of Christmas--peace on earth. We have had holiday decorations in the mall for months, it seems. And we have been eagerly waiting for Christmas. But the thing we need, as individuals and as a nation, is your peace.

You've shown us the way to peace by sending your son as a gift and as a sacrifice. Through this, our relationship with you can be restored. Make us a people marked by the same sacrificial love, a nation with a generosity and grace that renews relationships and restores peace.

As we do this, give us your peace. Amen.
