Prayer for America 03/15/06

Father, when a nation mourns, especially a nation of this size,what do you see from the heavens? Do you see our heavy hearts and weeping souls? Do you see our weary backs and tear-filled eyes? And what do you hear? Do you hear our cries of anguish and gasps of pain? Do you hear our shouts of horror and sighs of helplessness?

Father, we need to know that you see and hear our mourning. Wrap your arms around us; hold us tight. Reassure us that you are aware of our suffering and you are mourning with us. Father, we know that you are not a God of flippant answers. We know that you don't wave a magic wand to make our pain go away. That's okay, God. All that we really want and need right now is the reassurance that you are walking through our mourning with us and that we are not alone. Remind us, Lord, that you are rifht here beside us. Amen.
