Prayer for America 05/26/06

Heavenly Father, Lord above, God of all things seen and unseen, my heart is full of praise that you have given me a life of freedom and abundance, a life built upon the sacrifices of our founders. It would be easy to be smug and say, “Thank you for not putting me in harm’s way by making me a citizen of a failing nation torn by war and plagued by hunger.” But smugness never fed a hungry child or waved a flag of peace. Lord, as a citizen of this great land, I have a responsibility to share my blessings. In some small way and through your grace, show me how to share today. Amen.
