Loving God, in whom we all are family, please give a special protection to those sisters and brothers who serve in the Armed Forces. Bless them in all they do, and give them courage to face the difficult task of protecting our nation and democracy around the world.

Even though they are called to function as part of a unified body, give them each as individuals compassion, integrity, and a clear sense of purpose. When they are far from home, help them feel love and support from across the distance. Protect them when they are in physical danger. Surround those in the Armed Services with your love and power. As for those of us who live free under their protection, help us remember to offer our gratitude for the important job that these men and women do on behalf of the United States of America. Amen.
