Prayer for America 08/07/06

Lord, help us be people who matter. Not rock stars and movie icons, millionaires and marathon winners. No, Lord, help us be really important people. The kind of people who help in times of need. The kind of people who appreciate others and make them feel special. The kind of people who teach children to tie their shoelaces, ride a bike, or catch crayfish in a stream. You know, the really important things in life.

The people who count in life, Lord, are the everyday heroes who show us how to live and love: grandparents, friends, teachers, and neighbors who shape our lives and share their time, their love, and themselves with us.

Show us what we can do today to change our world for the better and be people who count.
