Never Waver

We can debate and squabble over what should have been,
Point fingers and roll eyes in disgust,
Scream in anger about what is felt unjust,
But once committed... it is about our young women and men.

And it began with our founding fathers deciding their call,
Knowing what could befall,
To take up arms for an independent course,
Against one so mighty with an untested force.

Now, we are called to use our might,
Knowing there will be scorn with the thanks,
Including from those within our own country's ranks,
But September 11, 2001 was just the start of this fight.

As the war against these enemies must be won,
Taken to them beyond our shores,
As we have done in all previous wars,
Ending their ability to hit and run.

So, be proud of our valiant ones,
Who are in harms way,
Never wavering for what must be done,
Which we should do for them every day!
