Prayer for America 11/23/05

Father, at this time of year, we talk a lot about giving thanks to you for all you've done for us as a nation. In that spirit, I wish to thank you for providing for those first families who made their homes on these shores. They came looking for freedom of religion and for opportunity. It wasn't easy for them, God, especially in the winters. many died from disease and cold and hunger.

But you honored their sacrifice and faithfulness to you, as well as their desire to live as free people. You were with them through the long winters and as they grew and prospered. And you're still with us, their descendeants. Thank you for your protection, provision, and hope. Help us be as faithful to you as they were, Lord.
