Prayer for America 12/17/05

With praise I come to you this morning, Lord, in thanksgiving for the certainties in our uncertain lives. I do not question that the sun will rise or that the tides will turn on schedule. I do not wonder if robins will announce each spring and falling leaves will warn us to prepare for a cold winter. I do not question that I will die and rise up in your radiant presence. I do not question our national pride, for I know that no matter how hard democracy is put to the test, someone will stand and wave our flag. Even if that flag is tattered, Americans will unite and rally. I thank you, God, that I am also certain of that. Amen.
