Prayer for America 12/19/05

Lord, winter is the time when all nature sleeps within the earth. you send the winds to howl around it, the slett to fall on it, the frost to nip it, the ice to glaze over it, and the snow to cover it all up in sparkling splendor.

In many parts of our country, winter is a difficult time of year. But you help us see the beauty in this season. you help us enjoy the cozy warmth of our homes, seek the perfection in a flake of snow, inhale the crisp air, and taste the bite of winter with its promise of the spring to come.

in the winter of our lives, Lord, when we must receive more than we can every give, help us look toward the hope of an eternal springtime with you.
