Prayer for America 01/12/06

God of Peace,violence is everywhere. It is the weapon of evil. We never know when it will erupt, even in ourselves, and we are unprepared when it does.

You have seen violence among your people since the days of Eden. You alone know how to confront and combat it.

Father, we seek your wisdom. Teach us how to conduct ourselves in the face of violence. Help us as we try to understand senseless acts that hurt and kill. Preserve us wherever evil threatens to strike.

Help us confront the problem of violence with courage, reason, and compassion. You have promised peace to those who love you. Make us willing servants in the struggle for an end to violence and the beginning of a peaceful coexistence.
