Officer Donahue was shot and killed on Brandywine Street near Spring Garden, by a man he was trying to arrest. The killer had been out of prison only a month. He was tried for murder and sentenced to death. Officer Donahue was a 7½ year veteran of the force. he was survived by his wife and two young children.
