Prayer for America 04/06/06

God, I look at before-and-after photos of our presidents, and I realize how stressful their time in office must have been. You can see it in the changed expressions on their faces and in the looks in their eyes. I imagine the sleepless nights and long meetings agonizing over matters of life and death. I imagine hours of self-doubt, second-guessing, and weighing the words of critics. I imagine all the distractions of politics.

Please, God, give our president wisdom and courage to do what’s right for our nation. Help him choose the best course of action over the popular. Help his advisors to be faithful, honest, and insightful. Protect him from our enemies, and guide him to your hope. Thank you for this president. Help him sleep well tonight.
