Prayer for America 06/01/06

Summer is coming, bringing with it some classic American pleasures, such as baseball, picnics, lemonade stands, hot dogs, apple pie, ice-cream cones, bicycling, outdoor concerts, family reunions, and two-week vacations.

Thank you, Lord, for these and so many traditions that capture the lighthearted, joyful essence of our nation’s spirit. Remind me to stop and buy some lemonade from the neighborhood kids. Slow me down enough to attend a baseball game with a friend or neighbor and to enjoy the company of the other fans around me. Help me to appreciate the change in scenery and the new people I meet on my vacation. Let me rejoice in America and Americans this summer.
