Prayer for America 07/26/06

Lord, Americans are resourceful and gifted. We can create beauty using skillful hands and thoughtful minds. Our creativity helps us make the world a better place. Let our works reflect, in some small way, your glorious act of creation.

We don't all have fine words to pray, Lord. But let us remember that the word "inspiration" comes from "spirit"; let others accept the gifts of our creation and prayers. A simple homebaked loaf o bread, a heartfelt poem, or a blanket sewn for a baby's bed all speak of the same time, love, and devotion as does a wordy prayer.

Help us encourage our children to be creators. Those who draw from the well of creation within themselves are less inclined to destroy. Guide our hands, hearts, and thoughts as we help you make our country a more lovely place for all of us.
