Prayer for America 04/18/06

God, I took some time today to do nothing. Actually, I did a thousand things--I read, I thought, I daydreamed, I breathed deeply, I strolled, I hummed, I lifted my face to the sun so I could drink in its warmth. But most of these things are considered nonessentials in this fast-paced world or ours. Help me do nothing more often. Help me sit still and listen to the world around me. Help me focus on you so that I stay grounded in truth. Help me just be often enough so that I am able to do the things that I’m responsible for. And help me encourage others to both be and do as well. Amen.
