God, life often becomes a ritual--the same routine on a different day. But for Americans, life does not have to be like that. We are free to go about the day in our own way. Please help me stop taking my freedoms for granted and start enjoying the simpler things in life: a walk along a wooded trail, a conversation with a child, a day off to do as I wish and to celebrate my freedoms. Please, God, help me break my day in, day out routine. Help me see there is much more to life as an American. Amen.



If we forget those who have sacrificed their lives to defend our freedom, we risk forgetting that our freedom is worth dying for in the first place.
