Prayer for America 06/10/06
Heavenly Father, today I pray for the prisoners of our country. I know that our laws ensure, as far as humanly possible, that justice prevails in our courts and that the punishment fits the crime in humane ways. Those behind bars are paying their debt to society, but let this also be a time for them to turn to you for solace, regret, forgiveness, faith, and renewal. Give them assurance that your mighty love is not kept out by prison guards and prison bars. Let them see that the light of your love can change hearts and lives. Give them hope, Lord, for a better life full of your guidance. Amen.
It is difficult to hate those you pray for; you begin to feel responsible for them. They become part of your family.
