Prayer for America 06/19/06

Lord, please make us aware of people in our country who live oppressed lives. Sometimes we forget that not everyone in America has a free and blessed life. Some are oppressed because of their ethnic heritage. Some because of their economic status. Some because of their educational background. Some because of physical or mental disabilities. Some because of their religious beliefs.

Whatever the reasons are, God, no one should live under oppressive circumstances, especially in this land that promotes freedom. If we are personally guilty of oppressing either and individual or group of people, forgive us. Point out our failure, and help us change our attitudes and behaviors so that we are accepting of everyone. Open our hearts so that we learn to love all people. Amen.
