Prayer for America 07/07/06

The fields that feed our young and old
stretch from east to west, north to south,
blanketing the prairies, cloaking the valleys,
gently draping the hills.
The patchwork of brown and black,
greens and golds sway in the breeze,
bend in the wind, reach toward the sun.
Down into the earth, roots drink deeply
from the soil's richness and the land's wealth.
Thank you, Father, for the food you give
and for the ground from which it grows.
