Prayer for America 04/22/06

You, O God, gave us this great country with all the rich natural resources we treasure: forests, waters, wind, coal, mountains, oil. Help us to treasure also the greatest resource of the United States: her people.

Thank you for those whose faces are the color of peaches, cafe, au lait, or rich honey; those with blue eyes or brown; those who speak Tagalag or Korean or Spanish as well as English. Thank you for scientists, hairdressers, and public servants. Thank you for people whose ancestors have been here for generations and for those who have only recently sojourned to this land of freedom. Let us all join together in gratitude for each other and for the gifts we each bring to our nation. In your great name we pray, amen.
