Prayer for America 05/02/06

God, as I go about this day, open my heart to blessings I seldom notice--the shadow of a leaf dancing on a wall, sunlight sparkling in a puddle, the giggles of a child, the bold stripes of our nation’s flag. Thank you, God, for all that reminds me of the joys of being your child and being free. Amen.
You’re a grand old flag, you’re a high flying flag.
And forever in peace may you wave.
You’re the emblem of the land I love,
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev’ry hear beats true under red, white, and blue,
Where there’s never a boast or brag.
George M. Cohan, “You’re a Grand Old Flag”
