Prayer for America 05/03/06

Lord, in times of trouble, the pain can be so deep that words are no comfort. What can we say to someone who has lost a loved one? What will help?

Perhaps silence is the correct response. If words can’t help and heal, Lord, enfold and protect us with your cloak of peace. Help us share stillness with one another. Guide us to the place where we can simply be without doing--present and prayerful, comforted and quiet in your presence until we heal.

When bad things happen in our country, we become aware of the fragility of life and the importance of loving and caring for one another. We grieve for those who are suffering, as if millions of hearts are beating as one.
